Paying for Therapy

Valuable information for clients and prospective clients

FAQ About Paying for Therapy

Do you accept insurance?

+-

No, I am not in-network with any insurance plans. Due to the highly personalized structure of my therapy sessions, most of my sessions are not recognized by insurance carriers. I am unable to provide a superbill for out-of-network coverage. I work outside of the medical model and do not use standard billing codes to categorize some of my sessions.

What Paymet methods do you accept?

+-

I accept cash, credit cards and a standard FSA. Healthcare reimbursement accounts have been historically inconsistent in whether or not they provide reimbursement to clients.

I accept CareCredit, where you can use promotional financing options to cover your costs interest-free or low-interest for a period of 6 or 12 months.

How frequently will I visit you?

+-

During our initial phone consultation and first session, we'll discuss the schedule that fits your needs the best.

As we move forward, it is likely that the plan will change, to some extent. This is a responsive process, which means if your system shows signs of needing to speed up or slow down in frequency or intensity, we will do so.

You may have a highly protective system that results in slower, more gradual work. Or, you might be at the tail-end of your therapy journey, having already worked through your protective system, resulting in more rapid access to reprocessing targets.

In my experience, people under 30 years of age have to spend less time in the reprocessing phase, compared to those over 30 years of age.

Financial Investment

+-

All sessions are billed at the rate of $225/hour, rounded to the nearest 15-minutes. Fees are collected at the time of the session.

Intensives, which are sessions of 4 hours, scheduled 2-3 days in a row or in the same week, require a 50% deposit at the time of booking. The remaining balance is charged to the card on file on the first day of the Intensive.

Your duration of sessions, frequency of session and total time spent in treatment is highly variable and cannot be predicted. Please note that those with more complex trauma, early childhood relational wounds, or high levels of dissociation typically require more hours in treatment for a longer period of time.

Trauma Reprocessing Therapy

Engaging in therapy is an investment of your time, money, and inevitably, the discomfort of change. I aim to make the most of your investment and reduce the amount of disruption in your life.

If you have been in therapy for a long time, you can see how we are so often unable to “get to the point” because of the insurance-dictated hour-long weekly sessions.

Additionally, because I specialize in complex and early childhood trauma, we often need significant blocks of time (2-4 hours a session) to fully engage in the therapeutic targeting and reprocessing of stored trauma.

Since switching to the Extended Sessions and Intensives model, I have been seeing remarkably satisfying results with my clients.  This is why I no longer work within the hour-long sessions to address the pain of complex trauma, relational trauma and betrayal trauma.

Our time together in the Pre-Intensive Interview (2 hours) will determine whether we plan for Extended Sessions, an Intensive, or both.
