Paying for Therapy

Valuable information for clients and prospective clients

FAQ

Do you accept insurance?

+-

No, I am not in-network with any insurance plans. Due to the highly personalized structure of my therapy sessions, I am unable to provide a superbill for out-of-network coverage. I work outside of the medical model and do not use standard billing codes to categorize my sessions.

What Paymet methods do you accept?

+-

I accept cash, credit cards and a standard FSA. Healthcare reimbursement accounts have historically declined client requests for reimbursement.

I accept CareCredit, where you can use promotional financing options to cover your costs interest-free or low-interest for a period of 6 or 12 months.

How frequently will I visit you?

+-

During our initial phone consultation and Pre-Intensive Interview, we'll discuss the schedule that fits your needs the best.

As we move forward, it is likely that the plan will change, to some extent. This is a responsive process, which means if your system shows signs of needing to speed up or slow down in frequency or intensity, we will do so.

You may have a highly protective system that results in slower, more gradual work. Or, you might be at the tail-end of your therapy journey, having already worked through your protective system, resulting in more rapid access to reprocessing targets.

In my experience, people under 30 years of age have to spend less time in the reprocessing phase, compared to those over 30 years of age.

Financial Investment

+-

Extended sessions, which are sessions of 2-3 hours and typically scheduled bi-weekly or weekly are $185/hour. Fees are collected at the time of the session.

Intensives, which are sessions of 4 hours, scheduled 2-3 days in a row or in the same week, are $225/hour. Intensives require a 50% deposit at the time of booking. The remaining balance is charged to the card on file on the first day of the Intensive.

Trauma Reprocessing Therapy

Engaging in therapy is an investment of your time, money, and inevitably, the discomfort of change. I aim to make the most of your investment and reduce the amount of disruption in your life.

If you have been in therapy for a long time, you can see how we are so often unable to “get to the point” because of the insurance-dictated hour-long weekly sessions.

Additionally, because I specialize in complex and early childhood trauma, we often need significant blocks of time (2-4 hours a session) to fully engage in the therapeutic targeting and reprocessing of stored trauma.

Since switching to the Extended Sessions and Intensives model, I have been seeing remarkably satisfying results with my clients.  This is why I no longer work within the hour-long sessions to address the pain of complex trauma, relational trauma and betrayal trauma.

Our time together in the Pre-Intensive Interview (2 hours) will determine whether we plan for Extended Sessions, an Intensive, or both.

$370

Pre-Intensive Interview (2 hours total)

This is our first face-to-face meeting. We'll spend this time making sure it's a good therapeutic fit, testing your response to the interventions and creating a detailed timeline of your personal history.

Sometimes, this session ends with a decision to not move forward with further sessions. This can be for a number of reasons, but is always in the best interest of the client. If it becomes clear that I cannot work with you, I will do my best to give you ideas and options for other providers.

If we decide to move forward with treatment, we'll end this session by scheduling our next appointment.

$370

Extended Session, 185 per hour (2-3 hours total)

Similar to Intensives, Extended Sessions provide the framework for more focused and thorough reprocessing of trauma, thus likely reducing the overall time spent in treatment.

Extended Sessions are ideal for those with dissociative tendencies (well-protected systems, shutting down, numbing out) and those newer to therapy.

We can meet weekly, bi-weekly or once per month for 2-3 hours.

$1800

Intensive, 225 per hour (4-12 hours total)

Intensives are not simply ‘longer’ therapy sessions. Intensives are planned weeks in advance and include preparation from both the client and the therapist. Intensives are focused, intentionally outlined sessions. Intensives allow the opportunity to progress through your symptoms in a more succinct and focused way without the interruption of a 50-minute session.

An intensive format may decrease overall treatment time because of time not spent on:

  1. a)  checking in at the beginning of each session

  2. b)  addressing current crises and concerns

  3. c)  focusing on stabilizing and coping skills that the client won’t need after healing

  4. d)  assisting the client in regaining composure at the end of the session.
